Karen Hunter
Piano
What do you do?
I serve as a piano teacher at Westside Christian School and I am privileged to serve as a lead musician for worship services at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
How did you end up at Westside Christian School?
My husband, Pastor Randy Hunter, was assigned to serve at St. Andrew when he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. After we moved to Middleton, I taught kindergarten at Our Redeemer Lutheran School for three years, then started St. Andrew Lutheran Preschool and taught in/served as director of our preschool for three years. When God blessed our family with three children and continued to bless my piano teaching business, I knew I needed to choose one teaching venue over the other. I’ve now been teaching piano in the Middleton area for over thirty years.
What is your theme Bible verse?
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Tell us about your family
My husband Randy and I were blessed (after four years of infertility) with three children: Philip, Paige and Jackson. Phil and his wife, Andrea, reside in Menasha, WI, where Phil serves as pastor at Bethel Lutheran Church.  Their little family recently grew by one with the birth of Henrietta, our first grandchild! Paige and her husband, Jonathan, reside in Chapel Hill, NC. Jon is doing his medical residency at UNC and Paige works as a physician’s assistant. Jackson is currently pursuing a career in law enforcement.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
…wherever Randy takes me. I love snow-capped mountains, but I enjoy beaches and historical sites, too. I will enjoy visiting our children and their families wherever God in His wisdom decides they can best serve Him.
I received my training at...
I graduated from Faith Lutheran School and Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, WI, then graduated from (Dr.) Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, with a major in elementary education and a minor in English.
